Description
The historic YWCA building was built in 1928 as an Elk’s Club Lodge and Hotel. It was designed by noted Fort Worth architect Wyatt C. Hedrick, and it is listed in both the Texas and National Registers of Historic Places. Linbeck served as the contractor for the renovation and restoration to the building, which was the first major work done since its original construction. The grand ballroom features intricate plaster detailing, gold-capped pilasters, arched windows, and elegant black walnut flooring. The great room is a Spanish Renaissance style, with a beamed and stenciled ceiling of gold, teal and green, ceramic flooring, and an impressive fireplace. The basement was renovated to serve as a childcare area. Additionally, a ground level entrance and elevator tower were added on the north side of the building.
