Get to Know Rothko Chapel

Established by John and Dominique de Menil in 1971, Rothko Chapel is a non-denominational space that features 14 commissioned works of art by Mark Rothko. Focused on spirituality and community engagement, the Chapel sees more than 100,000 visitors every year and has hosted a number of national and global leaders over the course of its history.
Linbeck is currently working with Rothko Chapel to integrate a new administration building, archive center, and meditation garden into its campus. This building program follows our work with the Chapel from 2018-2020, which saw the renovation and restoration of the existing structure and addition of a new Welcome House and Energy House. This previous program led the Chapel to receive a Good Brick Award from Preservation Houston. Linbeck also received an award from AGC Houston for our construction excellence.
