Description
Surrounded by the beauty of the Ozarks, the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art positions art and nature side-by-side. As a collection of pavilions, the museum sits tucked inside the environment’s sloping terrain and spans a ravine among two ponds, forming a unique framework for galleries, educational areas, and event spaces. Utilizing architectural concrete, the internationally acclaimed architect sculpted the museum structures into the landscape and crafted various curves and dimensions to create a visual experience for the public, stretching from the procession of vehicular drop-off to the galleries. The museum’s nod to the outdoor environment extends into the building materials, which highlight the surrounding forest and spotlight the craft traditions of Arkansas, “The Natural State.”
