Description
Situated on the grounds of the 1840s Imperial Sugar Company Refinery, the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center is a children’s museum located within the first floor of the renovated 1950s factory warehouse. In order to transform the standard warehouse into a vibrant center for learning, Linbeck fully updated the interior, incorporating interactive children’s exhibits, administrative spaces, zones for school-based activities, and rental rooms for parties. The museum is free to underserved populations and works with communities across the Houston region to ensure children have access to its fun and exciting programs. Because Linbeck repurposed the existing structure, the team was able to significantly reduce waste and prevent an excess of materials during the project.
