Description
James Turrell: The Light Inside was a temporary exhibition that celebrated the works of artist James Turrell. Running concurrently with other Turrell exhibits across the country, the installation at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) featured seven immersive light environments, ranging from his first projections of the late 1960s to his “Tall Glass” series from 2010-2013. These luminous environments were built within four separate, freestanding enclosures or pods that were located on a second floor mezzanine in a fully functioning fine arts museum. Each installation was carefully constructed to ensure they captured Turrell’s artistic vision and allowed visitors to experience the art as he intended. As a result of careful pre-planning, successful implementation of Lean principles, and collaboration with the MFAH staff and trade subcontractors, Linbeck completed the 15-week project two weeks ahead of schedule.
