Description
Linbeck created the Decoma Venture and served as the project manager and builder to deliver a new, 17,000-seat, state-of-the-art sports and entertainment center for Miami, Florida. Located within the city’s downtown region and home to the Miami Heat, the Miami Arena was the city’s first major privatization project and served as the anchor project for the area’s redevelopment. Forty cast-in-place concrete bents, platformed with pre-cast seating areas, comprised the structure, while the roof was supported by eight massive, steel trusses spanning as much as 300
feet. Development and construction of the multi-million dollar arena was completed over the course of four years and opened to the public as scheduled in July 1988.
