Description
Located in the heart of the Rice University campus, the Duncan and McMurtry Colleges are where students of the university are able to live, learn, and thrive. Construction for the two, 312-bed residence halls entailed building a new kitchen/servery building, two new commons buildings, and two Magister’s houses. Both colleges share a Commons, as well as the kitchen and serving areas between the dormitory buildings. Duncan and McMurtry were seamless additions to Rice’s building fabric: their two quadrangles preserve and enhance the university’s prized landscape, while their brick facades reflect the rich character of the historic structures that dot the campus. Both Duncan and McMurtry are LEED Gold Certified and were successfully completed in an aggressive 24-month construction period using a HyperTrack delivery process.
