Description
In 1994, Linbeck completed construction of Texas’ first Class I Thoroughbred/Quarter Horse racetrack, Sam Houston Race Park. The sprawling sports facility totaling 240 acres includes a one-mile dirt track surrounding a turf course with a total capacity for 30,000 spectators, a 190,960 SF Grandstand, and an accompanying parking area for 9,700 vehicles. Working on a fast-track schedule, Linbeck delivered the Grandstand after only eight months and the entire facility in just 15 months. Linbeck provided construction services several times following Sam Houston Race Park’s original construction to complete a three-phased master plan, which created a new food court, fan education center, welcome center, 10,500 SF Player’s Lounge, and more. In 2008, Linbeck returned once again to repair portions of the facility that had suffered damages from Hurricane Ike.
