Description
The Witte Museum opened along the San Antonio River in 1926. Inspired by its mission and deep cultural significance, Linbeck worked closely with the Witte and Lake|Flato to carefully renovate all seven existing museum structures–several with historic designations–and make the campus more environmentally friendly. Following its completion, the Witte consists of 120,000 SF dedicated to natural science exhibitions, teaching spaces, and administrative offices. A key feature of the museum is its seamless flow between newly built and freshly renovated spaces. Linbeck also constructed the new Mays Family Center, a 19,000 SF, LEED Silver Certified multipurpose building that hosts traveling exhibits and special community events. Other campus highlights include a discrete new central plant that serves the entire campus and major landscaping enhancements.
