Description
The West Houston Ambulatory Care Facility (“West Houston”) is an outpatient facility that provides high-quality, comprehensive cancer treatment in a neighborhood setting. The four-story cast-in-place concrete structure includes an exterior envelope comprised of pre-cast concrete, metal, and glass panels. West Houston is the second MD Anderson Ambulatory Care Facility to incorporate a unitized block system (the League City facility, also constructed by Linbeck, was the first to use this system) to reduce the overall clinical footprint of the linear accelerator (LINAC) and provide more functional space for other treatment and patient areas. To support the cancer treatments, a USP 800 compound pharmacy and ISO7 cleanroom were constructed with the new facility. The project also included wetlands mitigation and creation of an expansive water detention pond for the site.
